Vengeance Demon Hunter Tank Easy Mode
Table of Contents
This page is intended for players who are new to the game or class, have no intentions of raiding Mythic difficulty, or simply want a more straightforward way to play their specialisation without being overwhelmed by the numerous subtleties and active abilities that need to be taken into consideration for optimal play.
1. The Basics
Vengeance Demon Hunters are adept at dealing with magic damage, and they also have strong mobility, which can help during tanking, especially in dungeons.
Your main goal throughout fights will be to maximise your Pain generation, and then use this Pain on the various active mitigation abilities at your disposal in order to keep yourself alive.
2. Talent Choice
These choices are optimised for ease of use. That said, only viable talents are suggested and the gains in survivability and DPS from choosing only the "best" talents are not gamebreaking.
- Level 99:
Abyssal Strike - Level 100:
Fallout - Level 102:
Felblade - Level 104:
Fracture - Level 106:
Quickened Sigils - Level 108:
Fel Devastation - Level 110:
Last Resort
3. Stat Choice
Currently, you will want to prioritise secondary stats as follows:
- Versatility;
- Haste = Mastery;
- Critical Strike.
If you have the 4-Part Tier 19 Set Bonus, Mastery becomes the best secondary stat instead.
4. Basic Rotation
The basic rotation as a Vengeance Demon Hunter is based on this priority.
- Use
Soul Carver on cooldown to generate Soul Fragments and
maximise DPS. - Use
Soul Cleave for healing (when above 70 Pain, to avoid wasting
resources when not using
Fracture). - If using
Fracture, cast Fracture to generate Soul Fragments or
keep from capping your Pain. - Use
Immolation Aura on cooldown. - If using
Felblade, cast Felblade on cooldown. - If using
Fel Eruption, cast Fel Eruption on cooldown. - Use
Sigil of Flame on cooldown. - If using
Flame Crash, weave casts of
Infernal Strike with
Sigil of Flame@. - Fill empty global cooldowns with
Shear.
Against multiple targets, skip step number 6.
5. Active Mitigation and Cooldowns
You have 4 active mitigation abilities that you need to use to keep yourself alive.
Soul Cleave should be used whenever you require additional
healing.
Demon Spikes should be used frequently, even simply against
auto-attacks. Always keep at least one of its charges rolling.
Empower Wards should be used before you take significant
magic damage.
Fiery Brand should be placed on the target when you anticipate that
they will deal high damage to you, or when you simply want to reduce the damage
you take.
In addition to that, you have access to a major survivability cooldown in
Metamorphosis. This works both pro-actively (to increase your
health in preparation for damage) and re-actively, as an emergency cooldown to
heal you up when you drop low on health. The extra Pain that Metamorphosis
generates is also a nice bonus, which you can use on
Soul Cleave for
more healing.
