This section is intended for players who are new to the game or class, have no intentions of raiding Mythic difficulty, or simply want a more straightforward way to play their specialization without being overwhelmed by the numerous priorities and active abilities that need to be taken into consideration for optimal play.

1. The Basics

Beast Mastery is a strong single-target spec. It is quite simple in its execution and it is an ideal spec for someone new to raiding, or just WoW in general. It also has powerful stacked-target cleave.

2. Talent Choice

The talents listed below are selected either for ease of use, or for more a more simple to understand gameplay style. Whilst in a number of cases there are alternatives on the tree that will provide more if played well, they create much more room to play incorrectly and reduce your performance. Due to this, treat this as a starting point and a primer.

• Level 15: Way of the Cobra for single-target. Dire Stable for AoE.
• Level 30: Dire Frenzy
• Level 45: Posthaste
• Level 60: Bestial Fury
• Level 75: Binding Shot
• Level 90: Volley
• Level 100: Killer Cobra

3. Stat Choice

Currently, you will want to prioritize secondary stats as follows:

1. Mastery;
2. Haste;
3. Critical Strike;
4. Versatility.

4. Basic Rotation

1. Cast Bestial Wrath and Aspect of the Wild on cooldown.
2. Cast Kill Command on cooldown. Always have 30 Focus when it comes off cooldown.
3. Cast Dire Frenzy on cooldown.
4. Cast Cobra Shot when you have nothing else to do. Do not cast it too much, else you will not have enough Focus to cast Kill Command.

When fighting more than 1 target, use Multi-Shot to refresh the Beast Cleave buff on your pet, but no more often than what is needed to keep it refreshed. Use this WeakAura to track Beast Cleave.

5. Pet Types

All pets are ordered into 3 different specs. Any pet type can be respecced as you wish, but certain pet types have special abilities that you might be interested in. For DPS, your pet should always be specced Ferocity. Tenacity is a pet tanking spec, and Cunning is primarily a PvP pet spec.

All Beast Mastery Hunters should have a battle ressurrection pet and a Bloodlust pet ready to go. Quilens, Moths and Cranes bring battle ressurrection, and Nether Rays and Core Hounds bring Bloodlust. If your group already has Bloodlust in it, you should generally default to a battle ress pet in dungeons.
